Sunday 2nd. XI v. Hockley Heath

40 overs a side friendly

WIN

Hockley Heath 130-9 (40 overs) lost to Kenilworth 134-4 (27.5 overs) by 6 wickets.

Kenilworth chased down Hockley Heath’s total of 130-9 with 12 overs to spare thanks to an unbeaten 50 (4 x 4, 1 x 6) from opener, Henry Curran, who reached his half century and the side’s target score in style as he blasted the ball for a six to give the home side a 6 wicket win in a match that was not rain affected.

Hockley had earlier Ahmed 52, Akbal 21 and Majid 12 to thank for reaching their total but the trio were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Of the 8 Town bowlers used, Jon Mortlock was the pick taking 3-6 off 6 frugal overs whilst Louis Smithson, Pat O’Reilly, Will Sheehan and Sam Leach each took a wicket with 2 run outs accounting for the other wickets to fall.

In reply, Kenilworth recovered from 29-3, as Curran teamed up with Leach and the pair put on 61 runs for the 4th. wicket before Leach departed on 30 (4 x 4). It was then left to Smithson to partner Curran with the duo putting on a further 44 runs together before Curran hit the winning runs as the side reached 134-4 in the 27th. over. Smithson made an unbeaten 17 after Hockley’s Majid had earlier taken 2-2.

The Sunday 1st. XI Arden Sunday League match at Coombs Wood had been earlier been cancelled due to the rainy conditions in Halesowen.
