Two out of three wins, not so bad!

Sides perform well

All 3 Kenilworth sides were in League action on Saturday that saw two wins and a narrow defeat.

1st XI

Kenilworth v. Nuneaton

Warwickshire Cricket League Division 1 – W/L – 50 overs a side

WIN

Kenilworth 185-10 (20 points) (50 overs) beat Nuneaton 130-10 (4 points) (39.4 overs) by 55 runs.

The 1st. XI recovered after slumping to 5-3 and then 19-4 to go on to post 185-10 in their Division 1 League match at Nuneaton and bowl the hosts out for only 130 to win the match by 55 runs. It was two crucial 60 run stands that saved the Kenilworth’s blushes as Stuart Cope hit 47 (4 x 4, 1 x 6) partnering Pat Howard who, as the side further stuttered to 114-8, held firm and he made a fine 58 (6 x 4) with Matt Casey 14 to take the side to 174-9. Sunil Kumar had earlier added 26 (2 x 4, 1 x 6). Joshua Biksas took 4-28 for Nuneaton whilst Thomas Neale and Liam Benn picked up a brace of wickets each. In reply, Nuneaton equally struggled with the bat finding themselves 30-3 and then teetering on the brink of defeat at 90-8 as wickets tumbled all too regularly before they were finally bowled out after a super bowling display from Kenilworth, led by skipper Joe Atkinson who claimed 4-17 from his fine 10 overs spell, Matt Casey 2-29 from his 8, with Cope and Steve Rhodes taking a wicket a piece before Darius Potten-Ravenshad took the final wicket to give Kenilworth a hard earned win for their efforts with 10 overs of the match left and give the side maximum points.

2nd XI

Kenilworth v. Coleshill

Warwickshire Cricket League – Division 7 East – W/L – 50 overs a side

LOSE

Coleshill 200-6 (20 points) (50 overs) beat Kenilworth 186-10 (4 points) (48.5 overs) by 14 runs.

The 2nd. XI fell 14 runs short of the Coleshill score of 200-6 in a close match that could have gone eitherway. Coleshill had Brown 51 and Yakoob 47 not out to thank for posting their score as Shyaan Imam took 2-34, Charlie Stranks 2-38 and Ben Clarke 1-37 for Kenilworth. Chris Prophet opening for the Town added 56 whilst Stranks and Sam Leach 22 added 40 runs in their 8th. wicket stand as they crept closer to the target but the side was eventually bowled out for 186 with 7 balls to go as Yakoob took 3-32, Ali 2-31 and Hussain 2-56 for the victorious visitors.

3rd. XI

Kenilworth v. Norton Lindsey

Cotswold Hills Cricket League – Division 6 – W/L – 40 overs a side

WIN

Kenilworth 191-7 (19 points) (40 overs) beat Norton Lindsey 108-6 (4 points) (40 overs) by 83 runs.

Kenilworth 3rds. were once again on song with the bat and ball as they enjoyed a 83 run win over Norton Lindsey. The side posted a 191-7 off their 40 overs with James Adamson making 46, Will Machin 35, Mark Stranks 25 and Vik Joshi an unbeaten 21 as Hall took 3-27 and Perry 2-47 for Norton Lindsey who then struggled with the bat in reply. They could only muster 106-6 in reply from their 40 overs as they found Kenilworth’s bowlers far too accurate and hard to get away with only Richardson 46 and Hathaway 12 not out reaching double figures. Matt Dadswell was the pick of the attack taking 4-22 from his spell, whilst Josh Charlwood took 1-9 from his 4 overs and Adamson 1-6 as the side recorded another fine win to extend their lead of the Division.
