Shingler performs with the bat and ball for the 1st. XI

A mixed bag of results for the 3 League sides

A mixed of results for the three Kenilworth sides – 1st. XI had a losing draw, the 2nd. XI a win whilst the 3rd. XI lost.

 

 

1st XI

 

Kenilworth v. King’s Heath

WCCL Division 1  – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose/Draw format

LOSING DRAW FOR KENILWORTH 

King’s Heath 273-8 dec (48 overs) (17 points) drew with Kenilworth 143-7 (52 overs) (6 points)

 

King’s Heath’s Adil Saeed was the difference between the two sides as he made his second successive century as King’s Heath posted a formidable 273-8 before declaring as he made an unbeaten 136 with opener, McKeever, chipping in with 42. The Town’s Connor Shingler was again the pick of the Kenilworth’s bowlers taking a fine 2-29 from his 10 overs spell. Stuart Cope and Joe Atkinson also picked up a brace of wickets each, whilst Darius Potten-Ravenshad took the other wicket to fall. Kenilworth were never up with the required run rate as the King’s Heath bowling line up were accurate and Kenilworth found them difficult to score runs off and runs hard to come by. Yet, it was Shingler who shone with the bat as he made an unbeaten 66 (8 x 4) to hold the innings together as wickets fell. Atkinson chipped in with 25 as Mohammed Hassan claimed 3-78 and Uwais Hassan 2-19 for the visitors. However, with the aid of Shingler, Kenilworth settled on 143-7 to draw the match after facing extra overs.

 

 

2nd. XI

 

Kenilworth v. Bedworth 3’s

WCCL Division 7 East – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose/Draw format

KENILWORTH WON BY 14 RUNS

Kenilworth 204-8 (50 overs) (24 points) beat Bedworth 190-10 (48.2 overs) (6 points) by 14 runs.

 

Kenilworth posted a solid 204-8 and bowled out Bedworth for 190 with 10 balls of the match remaining to pick up consecutive wins and their 4th. of the season. Mark Stranks hit a solid 50 (9 x 4), Sam Leach an unbeaten 39 (4 x 4) with Ben Clarke making a quickfire 26 (4 x 4, 1 x 6) in Kenilworth’s innings as Mishra took 3-30 and Venson 2-21 for Bedworth. It was nip and tuck in the Bedworth innings as they crept towards their target with Vengapal making 42. However, the Kenilworth bowling unit held firm with Dave Gamble taking a frugal 3-21, Will Sheehan 3-25. Josh Charlwood 3-50 with Clarke the other wicker to fall. Sheehan picked up the match winning wicket as Antony Spelman was last man out for 20 as Gamble took the catch to earn Kenilworth a 14 runs win

 

 

3rd. XI

 

Kenilworth v. Alvechurch & Hopwood

CHL Division 4 North – 40 overs a side – Win/Lose format

KENILWORTH LOST BY 8 WICKETS

Kenilworth 202-4 (40 overs) (6 points) lost to Alvechurch & Hopwood 203-2 (35 overs) (21 points) by 8 wickets.

 

It was a day for the batsmen from both sides to dominate the match as only a handful of wickets fell. Kenilworth posted 202-4 from their 40 overs as Uma Umashanker made a splendid 70 (10 x 4) as he and Dhruv Vyas 45 (7 x 4, 1 x 6) put on 80 runs for the side’s 1st. wicket and then Vyas added a further 73 runs for the 3rd. wicket with Steve Kelley who went onto make 49 (9 x 4) with Rachmann taking 2-30 for A & H and then he made 53 with the bat as he and Lavender 59 put on 79 runs for their first wicket then Lavender and Glover 30 added a further 77 runs for the second wicket to set the side up for the win which Hopwood duly achieved with 5 overs in hand as they reached 203-2. Matt Dadswell with 1-13 and Tarun Ahuja 1-41 were Kenilworth’s only wicket takers.
