Shingler’s efforts in vain

All 3 League sides lose

Saturday 6th. August

Another disappointing day for the three Kenilworth Saturday League sides as they all lost in their win/lose format of matches.

1st XI

Kenilworth v. Leamington 2’s

WCCL Division 1  – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose format

LOST BY 77 RUNS

Leamington 255-9 (50 overs) (20 points) beat Kenilworth 178-7 (50 overs) (6 points) by 77 runs.

Connor Shingler’s fine efforts of 3-52 with the ball and 82 runs with the bat were in vain as Kenilworth chasing Leamington’s 255-9 lost out by 77 runs as the win/lose format of League cricket matches returned.  Darren Williams top scored for the Spa side with 58, whilst J. Hawkins and W. Hawkins both made 37 as the side posted a stiff score.  Stuart Cope took 2-35, Joe Atkinson 2-61 and Olly Berry 1-59 for the Town. Kenilworth found runs hard to come by despite Atkinson hitting a quickfire 25 at the start of the side’s reply and they soon found themselves behind the required run rate despite Shingler’s solid knock in which he hit 7 boundaries and a six. Adey Sellar chipped in with an all run 32 but the trio were the only ones to reach double figures in the Town’s total of 178-7 as wickets were shared by the Spa bowlers though 2 run outs did not aid Kenilworth’s cause.

2nd. XI

Kenilworth v. Attleborough

WCCL Division 7 East – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose format

LOST BY 9 WICKETS

Kenilworth 218-10 (46.5 overs) (3 points) lost to Attleborough 219-1 (38.1 overs) (20 points).

Warwick 234-9 (40 overs) (22 points) beat Kenilworth 122-10 (28.4 overs) (5 points) by 112 runs.

Warwick proved far too strong for the Town 3’s as they posted 234-9 with  opener White hitting 66 and number 3, O’Connell, 55 as Rana took 2-25, Dhruv Vyas 2-40, Gareth Knights 2-42 and 1-19 from Dave Hone for Kenilworth.
