Saturday 2nd XI
The 2nd XI hosted Bedworth 3s in their first league game of the season after an abandoned start. Stand in captain Leach won the toss and elected to field at Warwick Road.
Wickets fell regularly as the K’s got off to a good start with the ball, having the visitors 35 for 3 and 86 for 8 before a strong partnership for the 9th wicket got Bedworth to an awkward total of 167 all out. Narendran Shanmugam top scored for the away side, with a slightly faster than run a ball 68, with several lower contributions dotted around the order. The wickets were spread around with Babu and Skinner both taking one a piece and Leach taking two. Sam Davies took 3 for 30 whilst Dan Hone was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for just 16 runs off his 9 overs.
What could have been a tricky chase was knocked off at a canter by the Kenilworth top order, chasing the total just 2 down with 23 overs remaining. Babu and Krishna both passed 50, with 56 and 53 not out respectively. Sarfraz Hussain also contributed with a not out 16. Esakkiappan took the visitors only two wickets.
The 2nd XI took a 20 point win, coming out winners by 8 wickets, currently sitting 4th in Div 6 East on 28 points.
