Tougher Weekend

Saturday 1st XI

The first XI travelled to Water Orton, where they won the toss and elected to bat.

Kenilworth were bowled out for 147 on the penultimate ball of the innings. Shingler top scored with an impressive 71 not out from 133 deliveries including 7 fours, there were several other contributions in the teens, the highest being Atkinson with 15. For the home side, Devinda took one and Bashir took 3 wickets for just 10 runs. Carl Chapman was the standout bowler with 5 for 41 off his 11 overs , going at just under 4s.

In reply, Water Orton chased the total with 5 overs to spare, with 4 wickets remaining. Chapman, having already claimed 5 wickets, made 58 not out, The middle and top order provided low contributions with Malik second top score with 21 and Devinda was the not out batter with Chapman. The pick of Kenilworth’s bowlers was Shingler with 3 wickets for 37 runs whilst Rhodes, Cope and Kumar took one a piece.

The first XI take 3 points from the game and slip to 7th in division 2.

Saturday 2nd XI

The 2nd XI hosted Massey Ferguson first XI at Warwick Road, with Kenilworth winning the toss and electing to bat.

Pete Huxford top scored with 22 and Krishna Alluri scored 21. There were several other scores in single figures and just above ten, with some getting starts and being unable to capitalise. For the visitors, Samra took one wicket with Awan and Crossland taking two a piece. Courtney Hayman’s figures were an impressive 5 for 22 off his 7 overs.

The visitors made light work of Kenilworth’s below par score. Sam Leach taking the only wicket for the home side as the K’s were put to sword with a clinical batting performance. Sudi mate 48 not out for the visitors and Hussain made 32. Luke Rose was 2 not out at the end, with the run chase finished inside 19 overs.

Kenilworth take no points from the game and slip to 6th in division 6.

Saturday 3rd XI

The 3rd XI welcomed fellow promoted side Lapworth, where Kenilworth won the toss and elected to field first.

Lapworth managed 162 all out in the 37th over. Williams made 45 not out and Wright 54 off 77, Mikey King was the only other batsman to reach double figures for the away side with 11. Ethan Tate and Yougunn both took 1 each and Soren Wasley claimed 2. Nahian took an impressive 4 for 14 off just 4 overs. Kenilworth also managed two run outs in the field.

In reply, Kenilworth could only manage 93 all out. Nahian top scored with 16 and Stephen Kelley was unbeaten on 15. For the away side, Tanveer and Kapoor claimed two wickets each, by far the stand out bowler was Danish Rana with 6 for 12 off just 5.2 overs. Lapworth took a 69 run win.

Kenilworth take 5 points and go sixth in the Cotswold Hills division 4.

Sunday XI

The Sunday side hosted Leicester Wanderers in a friendly at Warwick Road, Kenilworth won the toss and elected to field.

The visitors made 146 all out in the 37th over. Highest score for the Wanderers was 41 paired with Kahlon making 24. The wickets were spread around the Kenilworth bowlers. Kelley and Farnell both took one wicket, with the latter taking his first senior wicket. Keshvala and Yougunn took two each, however Babu claimed the best figures with 2 for 11 off his 8 overs.

In reply, Kenilworth fell 18 short of their target. Joe Tate top scored with 34 as he and Ben Kelley, who made 19, put on an opening stand of 48. A run of low scores then condemned Kenilworth to defeat , but not before Yougunn made a quick fire 24 to keep the game alive into the last over. For the visitors, Kahlon took 4 for 22 as Tarvaz and Singh took two a piece and Kesavan and Turner claimed one each
