Despite the Town side losing their friendly match, the day will be remembered for teenager Louis Smithson hitting 83 – his highest score in Senior cricket and opening the batting – replying to the Wanderers’ total of 276-6. Smithson hit 8 boundaries in his knock, the rest coming in singles and 2’s as he grafted away. Dhruv Vyas posted 39 and Joe Tate 31 in the Town’s total of 215-5 from their 40 overs. Earlier, Wanderers’ Tahir made 100 and Pranny 91 as Town’s Ethan Tate took 2-28 with a wicket each for Arun Joshi, Sam Leach and Tate as the Wanderers posted a stiff 276-6, which was out of reach for the Town batsmen.
