YOUTH CRICKET REPORTS – MAY BH

A busy bank holiday weekend for Kenilworth’s junior section.

All Stars cricket coaching started on the Sunday at 9.30am and we had 36 children under the age of 9 (plus their parents) enjoying playing cricket on the field.

Immediately after All Stars, Kenilworth’s U11s took on Earlswood in a Cotswold Hills pairs match. Kenilworth bowled first and our three girls of Anita, Katie and Sophie applied pressure in the field enabling Andrew to take an Earlswood wicket. Earlswood finished on 306-1. Kenilworth put up a gutsy batting display against accurate bowling with Charlie and Archie the pick of our batsmen and we reached 183-13 in reply.

The U13s then took on Stratford on a chilly Bank Holiday Monday morning. Kenilworth put Stratford into bat who despite a slow start against Kenilworth’s opening attack of Akaash Verma and Henry Thomas soon found their stride and amassed 163-2. Akaash and Will Sheehan Kenilworth’s two wicket takers.

In reply Kenilworth relied on Will, James Hughes and Thomas Best who each struck three boundaries plus the ever reliable extras who top scored and we closed on 99-9.

The U15s took to the field in the afternoon also playing Stratford. Kenilworth this time opted to bat first and reached 112-2 in their 20 overs. Will Machin reached 35 whereupon he was required to retire. Stratford crept towards the total and reached their target in the last over finishing on 115-2.
