Sunday XI ‘A’ v. Barby
40 overs a side friendly
WIN
Kenilworth Sunday XI ‘A’ 159-8 (40 overs) beat Barby 103-7 (40 overs) by 56 runs
Jono Sparks took a superb 5-10 off his 8 overs and the first top 4 wickets to fall as Barby tried in vain to chase down Kenilworth’s score of 159-8. Elliott Haynes-Sorrell top scored for the side with 27 (4 x 4), Sparks made 25 with bat (2 x 4, 1 x 6), Shyaan Imam 23 (2 x 4), Sam Leach 18 and Dan Roden 14 not out for Kenilworth. Barby used 8 bowlers, 7 of which took wickets with a brace each for Webb 2-20 and Thompson 2-37 as the others were shared around.
Following Sparks’ devastating burst at the start of the Barby innings, the home side never recovered and were always on the backfoot until a 5th. wicket partnership of 59 runs between Jacob 34 and Westley who went onto to make an unbeaten 41, gave their score some respectability but they were by now too far behind the run rate. Charlie Stranks took 1-19 and Roden 1-34, as Barby limped to 103-7 at the close and Kenilworth secured a good 56 run win.
