Sunday Blues for both sides

Two defeats

 

The Club was able to field two sides on Sunday both in 40 overs a side friendly matches as there was no Sunday League action. Sadly, both sides were defeated.

 

Sunday 1st XI

Kenilworth v. Harvington

40 overs a side friendly

LOSE

Harvington 250-4 (40 overs) beat Kenilworth 236-7 (40 overs) by 14 runs.

 

The 1st. XI fell 14 runs short of their target after both sides‘ openers retired having scored a century each in a high scoring match. Harvington batted first and posted 250-4 with George Burford making 100, Felix Shears 69 and Giles Dickenson an unbeaten 35 as Tom Skinner took 2-38 for Kenilworth with Christian Mortlock and Uma Umashanker claiming the other wickets to fall. In reply, Dan Horner continued his recent fine form to notch up another century as he retired on 100 (10 x 4). Adam Huxford chipped in with 58 (7 x 4, 1 x 6) and Skinner 16 but their efforts were in vain as the side could only muster 236-7 in reply as overs ran out. Shears took 2-27 and Burford 2-45 for the hosts.

 

 

Sunday 2nd XI

Kenilworth v. Stoneleigh

40 overs a side friendly

LOSE

Stoneleigh 160-4 (40 overs) beat Kenilworth 116-10 by 44 runs.

 

Stoneleigh’s Nisan hit an unbeaten 108 in a one man show as the side posted 160-4 from their 40 overs with Hyas the second highest scorer in their innings as he made 20. Kenilworth’s Matt Casey took a creditable 2-2 from his 4 overs, whilst Matt Dadswell and Sam Leach each took a wicket. Kenilworth then never recovered from slumping to 15-5 despite the mid order of Leach 24 and Louis Smithson 23 adding 53 for the 7th. wicket. Andy Dadswell with 12 was the only other Town batsman to reach double figures with 12 as Tariq took 3-8 from his 6.5 overs, Huss 3-19 and Dev 2-25 with Shay and Alex taking the other wickets to fall as the side were bowled out for 116.
