A hat-trick of League wins AGAIN for the sides!

All 3 Kenilworth sides undefeated in Saturday’s League action

All three Kenilworth sides won their respective League matches on Saturday with the 3rd. XI cementing top spot in their Division with only 3 matches remaining, strengthening their promotion aspirations.

 

1st XI

Kenilworth v. Handsworth

Warwickshire Cricket League Division 1 – W/L – 50 overs a side.

WIN

Kenilworth 193-9 (20 points) (39 overs) beat Handsworth 180-10 (7 points) (38.1 overs) by 13 runs.

 

Kenilworth secured a 13 run win over Handsworth after posting 193-9 as Tom Booker hit 66 runs (7 x 4, 2 x 6) in his 56 ball knock and then skipper Connor Shingler wrapped up the match as he took 4-35 from his 7.1 overs as Handsworth were bowled out for 180. Booker had added 91 runs with Joe Atkinson 21 for the opening Kenilworth wicket before Adie Sellar hit a further 23 runs and Shingler 21 in the side’s total, as Afzal took 3-34 and Abbabaka 2-33 for the hosts. Replying, Handsworth’s Buchanan 34 and Hooper added 64 runs for their 5th. wicket before Kapil Dubey who took 3-30 in the mid order, removed Buchanan. Hooper went onto make 72 to give the side hope but Shingler trapped him LBW and he then went through the tail to wrap up a good win for Kenilworth. Steve Rhodes and Atkinson took a wicket each with a run out accounting for the other wicket to fall in Shingler’s match winning spell with the ball.

 

 

2nd XI

Kenilworth v. Nether Whitacre

Warwickshire Cricket League – Division 7 East – W/L – 50 overs a side.

WIN

Kenilworth 186-5 (20 points) (41 overs) beat Nether Whitacre 122-10 (2 points) (34.4 overs) by 64 runs.

 

The 2nd. XI claimed a comfortable 64 runs win over Nether Whitacre as teenager Shyaan Imam top scored with 39 (4 x 4) for the side as he shared in an opening 57 runs partnership with Dave Edmunds  31 (3 x 4, 1 x 6). Then Imam and Adam Huxford 26 added 47 runs for the 3rd. wicket before Charlie Stranks 33 not out (1 x 4, 1 x 6) and Jono Sparks 12 not out added 39 runs together to post the side’s 186-5 despite Smith taking 2-27 and Murphy 2-41 for the visitors. Titmus then hit 42 for Nether Whitacre with Murphy adding 19 and Turner 10 but the side were bowled out for 122 inside 35 overs as spinners Tom Skinner wrapped up the match taking 3-23, his wickets coming in a 9 ball burst, after Stranks had taken 3-37 and Sam Leach 2-15, with seamers Josh Charlwood and Sparks earlier picking up a wicket each in a solid all round team performance.

 

 

3rd XI

Kenilworth v. Alvechurch & Hopwood

Cotswold Hills Cricket League – Division 6 – W/L – 40 overs a side.

WIN

Alvechurch & Hopwood 160-7 (5 points) (40 overs) lost to Kenilworth 162-4 (19 points) (37.3 overs) by 6 wickets.

 

Kenilworth maintained control of the Division and their promotion hopes with a fine 6 wicket win over Alvechurch & Hopwood as they chased down 160-7 with 6 wickets in hand. Evans had hit 36, Harris 33 and Rowns an unbeaten 27 for Alvechurch as Matt Dadswell picked up 2-18 from his 8 overs and James Sparks 2-28 with Dhruv Vyas, Louis Smithson and Christian Mortlock taking a wicket each. In reply, youngster Keeran Umashanker 46 not out (3 x 4) and Peter Huxford 18 set Kenilworth on their way as the pair put on 50 runs for the side’s 2nd. wicket, before Umashanker and fellow teenager Yash Joshi 44 (3 x 4, 1 x 6) then put on a  further 72 runs together for the third wicket to leave James Adamson 14 not out to hit the winning runs with a boundary as the side reached 162-4 with 15 balls to spare, to continue to top the table with only 3 matches remaining.
