A tight finish but Sunday XI narrowly fall short
Sunday 12th. June
Sunday XI v. Marton
Sunday 40 overs a side friendly
LOST BY 4 RUNS
Marton 196-7 (40 overs) beat Kenilworth 192-7 (40 overs) by 4 runs
A very late flourish of runs from Kenilworth’s Dhruv Vyas and Keeran Umashanker nearly saw the side home but the side fell 4 runs short of Marton’s score of 196-7. Vyas made 58 (2 x 4, 3 x 6) and Umashanker an unbeaten 26 (1 x 6). Yet, the day will be remembered for teenager, Louis Smithson, hitting his maiden half century in Senior cricket as he made a super 64 (9 x 4) in a very solid innings with a fine array of shots. Earlier, Marton had Ruban with 50 and Lawson 27 to thank as the pair put on 90 for the side’s first wicket batting first. Singh then added 31 and H. Devgun 28 whilst Tom Skinner took 2-24, Joe Tate 2-31, Smithson 2-37 and Tim Saunders 1-29 for the Town side.
CONGRATULATIONS, LOUIS! ……… First of many to come!
