A day to forget, despite Sellar and Huxford hitting half centuries!

 

Saturday 30th. July

 

1st XI

 

Kenilworth v. Solihull Blossomfield

WCCL Division 1  – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose/Draw format

LOST BY 71 RUNS 

Solihull Blossomfield 201-10 (49.2 overs) (24 points) beat Kenilworth 130-10 (35.2 overs) (5 points) by 71 runs.

Solihull Blossomfield proved too strong for the Town 1’s as they posted 201-10 with Kerry hitting an unbeaten 108 and Bentley 40 in their total. Stuart Cope was the pick of the Town bowlers taking 3-26 and Connor Shingler 2-35 with Steve Rhodes, Ollie Berry, Darius Potten-Ravenshad and Tom Skinner a wicket each. Wicketkeeper, Henry Curran, was in fine form with the gloves as he took 5 catches behind the stumps. However, in reply the Town struggled with the bat despite Rhodes at number 8 hitting 40 (4 x 4, 2 x 6), Cope 33 (5 x 4), Shyaan Imam 18 and Shingler 12 but they were the only batsmen to reach double figures as the side were skittled out for 130 inside 36 overs.

 

2nd  XI

 

Kenilworth v. Stockton Star

WCCL Division 7 East  – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose/Draw format

LOST BY 9 WICKETS 

Kenilworth 171-9 (50 overs) (2 points) lost to Stockton Star 174-1 (37.4 overs) (24 points) by 9 wickets.

Keeran Umashanker hit 51  (4 x 4) and Dave Smithson 48 (6 x 4) in the Town’s total of 171-9 from their 50 overs. Joe Tate added 21 and Will Sheehan an unbeaten 11 but the quartet were the only ones to reach double figures as Stockton’s Mathur took 5-32. Stockton then reached their target with ease, inside 38 overs and for the loss of only one wicket as Kumar made an unbeaten 76 and Narvekar and unbeaten 72. Pete Alty was the Town’s only wicket taker.

 

 

3rd. XI

 

Kenilworth v. Alvechurch & Hopwood

CHL Division 4 North  – 40 overs a side – Win/Lose format

LOST BY 2 WICKETS 

Kenilworth 167-9 (40 overs) (7 points) lost to Alvechurch & Hopwood 171-8 (37.3 overs) (18 points) by 2 wickets.

 

Dan Hone hit 43 (8 x 4), Will Tompson 29 (5 x 4), Tarun Ahuja 28 (5 x 4) and number 10 Ethan Tate an unbeaten 18 in the side’s total of 167-9 as Cummings took 3-42 with a brace of wickets for both Ginty and Padmore. Despite the best efforts of the Town bowlers, Alvechurch reached 171-8 with 15 balls spare after Evans had earlier made 53 and Ginty 43 in a close match. Hone took 2-32, Tarun Ahuja 2-36 and Ethan Tate 2-39 for the Town side with Arun Joshi and Matt Dadswell picking up a wicket each.
