Atkinson and Horner in double century opening partnership

A great win for the 1st. XI with a fantastic double century opening partnership in their run chase as they try to avoid relegation whilst there was another disappointing day for the 2nds. and 3rds. as they were beaten in their win/lose format of matches.

1st XI
Kenilworth v. Hampton & Solihull
WCCL Division 1 – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose format
WON BY 4 WICKETS
Hampton & Solihull 299-7 (50 overs) (6 points) lost to Kenilworth 302-6 (49.2 overs) (20 points) by 4 wickets.
The Town 1’s pulled off a stunning last over win chasing down Hampton & Solihull’s 299-7 to win by 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare in a thrilling match that saw the Town’s openers, Joe Atkinson and Dan Horner, put on a massive 216 runs together for the side’s first wicket. Atkinson was first out in the 38th. over after hitting 86 (11 x 4) whilst Horner went onto make a sublime 116 (14 x 4, 1 x 6) falling shortly afterwards. The side still required 84 runs off 73 balls and Stuart Cope chipped in with a run a ball 16, whilst in form teenager Shyaan Imam then made 21 (3 x 4) from 14 balls and Steve Rhodes hit 19 (1 x 6) from his 11 balls faced. 4 runs were required from the final over of the match off Nissar who had taken all 6 wickets for Hampton. The Town’s number 8, Sandeep Kumar, held firm hitting 2 runs off the first ball of the over and then stroked the ball to the boundary next delivery to give the side the win as they reached 302-6 with 4 balls of the match remaining. Earlier, after recovering from 9-2, Hampton’s Din hit 97, Palmer 68, Lunn 38 and Rollaston an unbeaten 25 in their side’s total as Town’s Darius Potten-Ravenshad took 3-32, Rhodes 2-60 with a wicket a piece for Cope and Atkinson.
The win massively boosts the side’s chances of Division 1 survival with only 3 matches remaining of their League season and to pull out of the relegation spots where two sides from 4 will make the drop, in what will be a very fight finish for all the Clubs involved.

Kenilworth v. Berkswell 3’s
WCCL Division 7 East – 50 overs a side – Win/Lose format
LOST BY 6 WICKETS
Kenilworth 244-8 (50 overs) (5 points) lost to Berkswell 3’s 248-4 (42.3 overs) (20 points).
Berkswell comfortably reached the Town 2’s score of 244-8 to win the match by 6 wickets with some 7 overs to spare. Jono Sparks had made 75 (9 x 4, 1 x 6), Dave Smithson 48 (3 x 4), son Louis, 20, Dhruv Vyas 18 and Sam Leach 13 in the Town’s total as Ingrath took 3-34 and Sinha 3-34 for Berkswell. Parker then made 84 for Berkswell before Dyal 57 not out and Sinha an unbeaten 35 shared in a 101 runs match winning partnership to bring the game to an early end as Berkswell reached 248-4. Town’s Tom Best took 2-44 whilst there was a wicket each for Sparks and Ben Clarke.
3rd. XI
Kenilworth v. Henley-in-Arden
CHL Division 4 North – 40 overs a side – Win/Lose format
LOST BY 8 WICKETS
Kenilworth 163-10 (40 overs) (4 points) lost to Henley-in-Arden 164-2 (23.3 overs) (22 points) by 8 wickets.
Henley-in-Arden made light work of Kenilworth’s total of 163-10 as they easily reached 164-2 inside 24 overs as opener Williams blasted an unbeaten 100. Vik Joshi had made 56 (6 x 4), Will Thompson 34 and Andy Dadswell 18 for the Town in the side’s total, with Henley’s Williams 4 overs burst ripping through the Town tail to take 5-12. Issam and Jan had earlier chipped in with a brace of wickets each. Williams then smashed the ball to all parts in his quickfire innings to single handedly guide Henley to the win. Jan was unbeaten on 26 whilst Bramwell made 22. Tim Saunders and Matt Dadswell were the Town’s only wicket takers.
